I'm looking for any information about my uncle CLYDE RHEA. He trained in Louisiana with the 84th, went to England and embarked into France around St. Lowe. He was in the Infantry and assigned with the BAR in his company. He was injured in the Battle of the Bulge with his feet frozen. Later shipped to the Philippines in preparation for invasion of Japan. He is now deceased and I have no Division, unit or company information. If anyone can provide any information, it will be appreciated.

My wife's brother, Maurice W. Byall, was in the 334 Inf. 84th Div. ;was killed Feb. 23 at Korenzig, Germany in the big push across the Roer River. Maurice was with a mortar platoon--had crossed the river and was forward radio observer when he was hit with a German 88mm. Would like to hear from any other fellows who may have been in that same action.

Hello I seek information regarding my Uncle who I know was in the 334th Infantry Regiment. His name was Theodore C. Jozwiak. He was in Company B, but I am not sure which Battalion. I know that a Second Lt. named Hugh T. Harrelson from the same unit signed an authorization for him to bring a Walther P-38 pistol home. He died many years ago, but I am interested in learning about his experiences while in the Railsplitters. Any information you can provide me will be greatly appreciated. John

I was pleasantly surprised to see a photo of my father George Heissenberger while doing a search for his name under your media section. He is alive and well and living near Rochester New York. I'll share the photo with him of 333rd INF. I co Machine Gun section June 17, 1945 at Schonau Germany. I'm sure he'll enjoy seeing it. He is on the far left in the photo. We still have his uniform and a copy of the 84th history book. I will also ask him for some of his photos so I can upload some to your site. How do I get a log in and password? George Heissenberger jr.

Does anyone remember my dad, Don Bornscheuer? He served under Gen Bolling 84th Div, 333rd Regiment, 1st Platoon, Co. A.
Platoon cmdr was Second Lt. James Doyle, Co. A Captain Albert A. Prophet. Before he passed away, he wrote his memoirs which are in unbelievable detail, complete with diagrams of the convoy route and troop ship. I am in the process of editing and hope to get his book published. I think it is of great historical significance.

He passed away in May of 2009 and I have not had much luck in recreating his service record, the originals records burned. Would anyone have information that could help me? I know he was wounded in Purple Heart Valley and that he was awared the Victory Medal, American Theater Serv. medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Distinguished unit badge. He was discharged as a 2nd. Lt. in 1946. He was in Rome Arno, Southern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was a forward observer, unit commander, platoon officer, and reconnaissance & survey officer.
Just announcing a generous internet preview feature for the new book of WWII Railsplitter photos.
As many know, I recently published a book entitled "Witness to History- the WWII Photographs Taken by Maurice Miller". My dad kept a duplicate set of photos after the war, photos he had taken in various aspects of the 84th Division's accomplishments during WWII, as assigned by General AR Bolling. After nearly 30 years of effort, research and preservation, and the help of modern technology, I have been able to publish a book with over 300 of those amazing photos. The pictures include many perspectives- from generals to GIs at the front, and even reconnaissance photos taken to find enemy positions, or to prepare for the several river crossings made by the division.
The book, in present form, is quite pricey, unfortunately, since they are printed on demand. I'm sure many balk at the price, but for now, there is no other way I can do this. The good news there is a new feature with the website that markets them, to allow very generous previews.
It can be viewed at this link: ttp://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/891459
Or go to www.blurb.com and search in the "Bookstore" "Witness to History" which will take you right to it.
Thanks for viewing, and feel free to let me know what you think. Cheers, Mark Miller
