Meg Ruoff

HI,
I am the daughter of James S. (Jim) Ruoff. His hometown was Johnstown, NY.
He served in the 334th regiment, 84th division in the battle of Bulge, and army of occupation.
He entered Europe in Dec 1944, or so I believe.
My father never talked much about the war, as is similar with many other veterans.
I am looking for memories about him.

Thank you,
Meg Ruoff

Would very much appreciate any info about Tech Sergeant James A. Wittie, 6293249, 325th Field Artillery Battalion, or the actions of his unit. He was decorated (Bronze Start) in the Battle of the Bulge for carrying wounded soldiers out of a mine field.

My father Robert Viaene was liberated by the 84 infantry Division on April 12,1945 in Hannover - Langenhagen. The 333 Regiment have given our family new hope in a normal life.My thanks then get a little late, but after much research I learned that it the 84st division was.My father had completed this period in his life. But I could not refrain from doing searches for. Thanks again to all the man of the 84st and not just from my name, but for all those who have experienced a terrible time there in Germany.

I'm looking for any information about my deceased grandfather, Ralph E. Ford. My siblings recently ran across my grandfathers World War II memorabilia stashed away my grandparents garage. My father attempted to contact, I believe, the national archives to inquire about the action my grandfather saw in the war. He received a response that all of the records had been destroyed in a fire. I found a scrapbook with many references to the 84th Division, including several "The Railsplitter" newspapers. Currently I've only found one reference to a unit on the face of an envelope that says:

PFC Ralph E. Ford 37699068
Co. "L" 334 INF A.P.O 84
POSTM. NEW YORK N.Y.

From this I'm assuming he was in company "L" in the 334th. Any information would be very helpful. I've heard stories of my grandfather fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and of him receiving a bronze star for capturing a "house full of germans." My grandmother, who is still alive, says that my grandfather never really talked about the war so any information that I could find would be of great help.

My Dad served in the 334th, and served in all campaigns during late 44 to the end of the war and stayed in Europe into 46. I have pictures, his uniform insignas, metals ect. I am not sure what company and platoon he was in during combat. his discharge papers say company e, but training I have info saying co B and another saying co C. He passed in 1999 and would never talk much about his combat
experiences. He did describe some incidents but always changed the subject when he got to a certain point.
Anyway, I am trying to find out what company and unit he was in during combat. I am trying to retrace his footsteps during this time.

I would like to know anything about my father who was in the battle of the bulge taken as
prisoner of war and received the purple heart. His name was John(Jack) F. Williams from Wheeling, West Virginia. I couldn't find anything through government records.

I am wondering where information cn be obtained about the areas my spouse served in in WWII. His name Duane D, Galli Tec 4, R.A.C.E. Service battery 325th Field Artillery Battalion, 69th Infantry Railsplitters Battery B 84th Infantry division...I have the book "Battle of Germany" by Draper, and he is listed in the roster of the 84th Infantry division. He was a radio operator in the back of a truck. He occasionally mentioned few experiences to me, but never did want to talk about those war years. He did mention that he and his buddy, Joe Real, run a bar in the town during the occupation after the war. He also told me of liberating a German concentration camp in that area. The people were nearly starved . They let them out and they went into the town and took anything they could find to eat. one old man came back with a long sausage over his shoulder and eating on the end by his mouth Every night they would find several who had died from there. The conditions were so terrible. If anyone remembers him, I would really love to hear from you.

Harold J. Born

I was in H334 (listed as Harold S. Born in the roster, but that's me-(someone mistook a J for an S). I have met Brick Bradford and Emmett Lang at reunions, but wonder if there is anyone else still left from H Co. who is reading this board. I was captured at Geilenkirchen, so have not met anyone who did not come over with us from Camp Claibourne.

My father passed away when I was 10, and I have little information on his years of service. I do have a copy of his Combat Infantryman Badge for his conduct in action - dated November 1944. He was Pfc Charles J. Schnizler 333rd Infantry Compay H. Any suggestions on websited or books to find out more information on his years of service in the Army would be appreciated.
